This juicy, flavor-packed burger combines melty Swiss cheese, crispy bacon, caramelized onions, and a buttery grilled bun for the ultimate burger experience!

Ingredients

For the Burger Patties:

  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20 blend for juiciness)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp Worcestershire sauce

For the Bacon & Onions:

  • 4 slices thick-cut bacon
  • 1 large yellow onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 tsp olive oil
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper

For the Buns:

  • 2 brioche or hamburger buns
  • 1 tbsp butter, softened

Toppings:

  • 2 slices Swiss cheese
  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise (optional)
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard (optional)
  • 2 leaves lettuce
  • 2 tomato slices

Instructions

1. Cook the Bacon:

  1. Heat a skillet over medium heat and cook bacon until crispy, about 4-5 minutes per side.
  2. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate and set aside.

2. Caramelize the Onions:

  1. In the same skillet, remove excess bacon grease, leaving about 1 tbsp.
  2. Add butter and olive oil, then the sliced onions.
  3. Cook over medium-low heat for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until golden and caramelized. Set aside.

3. Make the Burgers:

  1. In a bowl, mix ground beef, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and Worcestershire sauce.
  2. Form into two patties, slightly larger than the buns (they shrink while cooking).
  3. Preheat a grill or skillet to medium-high heat and cook burgers for about 4 minutes per side for medium doneness.
  4. In the last minute of cooking, place a slice of Swiss cheese on each patty and cover with a lid to melt.

4. Grill the Buns:

  1. Spread butter on the cut side of each bun.
  2. Place buns on the grill or skillet, cut-side down, and toast for 1-2 minutes until golden brown.

5. Assemble the Burger:

  1. Spread mayonnaise and Dijon mustard (if using) on the toasted buns.
  2. Place lettuce on the bottom bun, followed by the Swiss cheese burger.
  3. Add crispy bacon and caramelized onions.
  4. Top with a tomato slice and the top bun.

Serving Suggestions:

  • Pair with crispy fries, onion rings, or a simple green salad.
  • Add avocado or a fried egg for an extra treat!
  • Serve with a side of garlic aioli for dipping.

Enjoy your Ultimate Swiss Cheese Bacon Burger!
